Have you heard of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy before?
It’s time to optimise your skin health with oxygen

You’d be forgiven if you haven’t heard of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy before… this cutting-edge technology has only recently begun to be introduced into UK aesthetic clinics. Despite its complicated sounding name, the concept of this treatment is pretty simple. Exposing the skin to pure oxygen within a specially designed environment, in order to reap the health benefits.

Hyperbaric who?!

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy boasts a whole heap of benefits – and when it comes to optimising our skin, it’s particularly effective in promoting healing post surgery, reducing signs of ageing, in treating infections / skin complications and reducing inflammation. This trending new wellness treatment is also great in relieving stress, improving energy levels, healing sports injuries and in alleviating the symptoms of various health conditions.

And it’s not just us getting excited about the possibilities of this supercharged healing treatment! Mr Reza Nassab, Consultant Plastic Surgeon and founder of CLNQ Medical & Aesthetic Clinic, has recently introduced this innovative new technology to his beautiful, boutique clinics too

Enter: The Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber, 2023 Wellness Trend

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is a medical treatment that enhances the body’s natural healing processes by exposing the body to pure oxygen within a pressurised environment. The clue’s in the name… ‘Hyper’ meaning increased and ‘Baric’ meaning pressure! Enter: Hyperbaric Oxygen Chambers, such as the one pictured above, located at Mr Reza Nassab’s CLNQ premises.

In a Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber, the air pressure is increased 2-3x higher than we’re used to in day-to-day life, with 100% oxygen. Within this pressurised environment, your lungs can take in considerably more oxygen possible at normal air pressure… with this increased pressure allowing 10-20x more oxygen to be dissolved into your body’s plasma than usual.

To put things further into context: the normal air we breathe on a daily basis is only approx 21% oxygen… whereas the air you’re exposed to in a Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber contains 200-400% oxygen!

What are the benefits?

Over time, increased oxygen stimulates new tissue formation within your blood vessels. This is proven to have multiple benefits for our health.

Post-Surgery Recovery

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy helps reduce post-procedure swelling, fights infection and builds new blood vessels; which produces healthy tissue. This trending treatment can also boost recovery and minimise downtime after non-surgical procedures; optimising results.

Anti-Ageing

“Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy can help diminish the appearance of lines and wrinkles by promoting fast repair of damaged cells,” Mr Reza Nassab explains. “There is some evidence that oxygen therapy can have potentially affect the ageing process. This can have an effect on DNA repair and also a protective effect.”

Injury Recovery & Endurance

This treatment is widely used in sports and loved by athletes in order to aid their recovery from sporting injuries. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy can aid in the repair of damaged muscle tissue, heal injuries faster and enhance athletes’ performance.

Pain & Inflammation Relief

“Hyperbaric Oxygen treatments can provide quick and strong pain relief whilst also dramatically reducing inflammation,” Mr Reza says.

General Wellness & Health

“Delivery of high levels of oxygen to the body may help improve energy levels and reduce stress on the body, Mr Reza tells us. “Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment has been used in medicine for numerous conditions, for a long time. There is good evidence to show improved wound healing; assistance in certain infections such as osteomyelitis, gangrene; and, treatment of air embolism or carbon monoxide poisoning.”
