Tried & Tested: HydraFacial at Halcyon Aesthetics

Our very own Chim headed to Halcyon Aesthetics, London, to try out trending treatment the HydraFacial. Here’s how she got on…

”As many of you know I am a little bit obsessed with skincare.  I sort of look at it as an investment, which sounds a little ridiculous after typing those words but I think you get my point. I’ve always wanted to try a facial that fits all my needs and offers fast results. So when I was treated to the HydraFacial at Halcyon Aesthetics in Marylebone, I jumped at the chance! The clinic was a beautiful, contemporary space and the team made me feel at ease straight away.

What is the Hydrafacial?

A Hydrafacial is a non-invasive skin resurfacing and hydrating procedure. It is innovative in that the “vortex suction” tool works like microdermabrasion to exfoliate the skin and remove impurities, but without using crystals or abrasive chemicals to do so. It literally just uses suction like a vacuum to get rid of dead skin, clogged pores, and reveal more radiant new skin. A Hydrafacial can treat a number of skin concerns, like fine lines, acne, hyperpigmentation and sun damage.

HYDRAFACIAL REVIEW COSMETIC PR

First, my friendly and experienced aesthetician, Marzena removed my makeup and gently cleansed my skin with soothing circular motions. She then enabled the specially formulated lymphatic drainage technique to help increase circulation and eliminate toxins.

Next, Marzena applied the “vortex suction” tool to painlessly remove dead skin and clean out my pores. It was basically a mini-vacuum cleaner applied all over my face that felt very relaxing. The feeling? Sort of like peeling off a Biore strip and seeing all the blackheads that used to be clogging your pores.

Next comes the fun, science-y part: the “vortex fusion” tool infuses your skin with a mix of peptides, hyaluronic acid, and antioxidants to plump up and moisturise. Now that pore-blocking old skin cells have been swept away, a glycolic and salicylic solution was applied to gently break up congestion in the pores. Followed by an extraction process to draw out other impurities, Marzena nourishes my skin and drenches it in moisture, with a mix of potent antioxidants, hyaluronic acid, and peptides and multi-peptides to support collagen. I was also treated to an infrared LED light which was fantastic!

Overall, I had a brilliant experience. The Hydrafacial was very effective, and I thoroughly enjoyed each step. I would recommend the treatment and clinic 100%!”
